I just finished streaming the movie TAMMY from Amazon Prime. This film stars Melissa McCarthy, Allison Janney, Kathy Bates, Susan Sarandon, Dan Aykroyd, and others in the supporting cast, which makes it a very funny film. Frank Falcone, who is Melissa McCarthy's real-life husband, directed the film. Will Ferrell and Melissa McCarthy, along with others, served as producers of the film.If you are a fan of McCarthy's work as I am, you will love this film. Although it differs little from her other movies, its humor and drama add to the overall enjoyment. I appreciate the actors' comedic timing and physical abilities, which she skillfully displays in the film. McCarthy significantly adds to my enjoyment, as she frequently collaborates with Falcone in movies. I like watching for his cameos, if not his outright partnership in acting roles that they have shared in past movies. This movie happens to be a funny, bittersweet tale. McCarthy, as the main character Tammy, and Sarandon, in her portrayal of her grandma Pearl, both showcased their mutual love for acting and ability to make you laugh. McCarthy consistently entertains me. By the end of her films, I feel like I know her and want to embrace her for making me laugh and, at times, feel like crying. Allison Janney, who had limited opportunities to showcase her talents in this film, didn't seem believable in the role of Tammy's mother. I think someone more akin to McCarthy would have been a better fit for that role. Additionally, the serious nature of her role, coupled with Janney's reputation for humor, in my opinion, made me feel that she didn't quite fit in. Yet I could believe she was Sarandon's daughter and Ackroyd's wife. Ackroyd, portraying McCarthy's dad, and. was well cast in the role due to his performance and suitability for the character. The movie's ending had a few lines for Aykroyd, and I feel he could have been used more as a supporting cast member, not just in a couple of scenes at the end with so few lines. I find myself just looking at Ackroyd and laughing at his natural comedic presence. He doesn't have to say a single word, though. *** I sensed a reference to John Belushi in his initial scene with McCarthy, but perhaps that was my own interpretation rather than a deliberate comparison. I simply found it amusing. The premise of the movie was funny, but at the same time a bit sad. A bittersweet movie that combines moments of joy and sorrow in a unique blend. After Tammy has a pretty bad day, which continues to get worse, her grandmother is now living at her parent's home, where she was considering taking solace. Grandma Pearl is sick. But she likes her morning juice, enjoys a liquid lunch, and is heavy-handed with her dinner punch. When she and Tammy decide to embark upon a little journey, she forgets her medications but remembers her Jack and Daniel's. Unfortunately, the two head in the opposite direction of their destination, and throughout the movie, they manage to get into all kinds of scrapes. Both McCarthy and Sarandon are comedic geniuses and deserve the awards and praise they have gotten over the years. While I am not a big fan of Susan Sarandon as a person, as I have seen how she carries herself in public, to me, she is very caustic. I do feel her acting abilities are on par with Streep and other top-tier performers, though. The praise for her work is well deserved, and when an actress like McCarthy, who has now been in the business for a while, teams up with Sarandon, not only are they dynamic, but they are also very believable as a grandmother and granddaughter. The presence of the talented actors in supporting roles enhances the movie by adding a fun yet occasionally dramatic and believable element. While the ending is predictable, it also lacks depth in that aspect. It's still a pleasant and funny movie to watch and laugh with. I was glad I was streaming and was able to rewind. Due to too much laughing, I ended up missing other hilarious moments. This movie is enjoyable to watch whether you are alone, with your partner, or with a friend. There are no embarrassing moments and language; while at times crude, I felt the parts of the movie it was used in were likely what someone would be thinking or saying to themselves in real life. In fact, during a scene where Falcone was playing McCarthy’s boss, she was bombarding him with ketchup packets. I imagined that if my husband and I were in those roles, we would have to reenact it at home to overcome the hilarity of the moment so as to not laugh on set. Get it out of our system.McCarthy is not only a wonderful comedian and actress; she is also a strong and inspiring woman who has her own plus-size women's fashion line, has had health issues, and has also been with Falcone for over 18 years and is mommy to their two girls. She takes on multiple roles and fulfills them adeptly. McCarthy's ability to balance her career, family life, and personal struggles while still maintaining a sense of humor and grace is truly admirable. Her dedication to her craft and her loved ones serves as an inspiration to many, proving that it is possible to wear many hats, and pull it off well.Take my advice. If you didn't see it several years ago when it came out, have some fun and watch an enjoyable movie. It is a real treat. You will not be disappointed
