It is difficult to take in the complexity of the story. But Nicholls achieves this. As a junior of nine years, I really had no real understanding of the real story. The sad part is that the real story had consequences to all the men that came home, all the families of these men and of course all those who knew and loved those who didn't .This book weaves the story of hate, guilt, revenge love and forgiveness . We need to think of the many wars and conflicts around the world and the many people touched by war. Wars just don't happen. Government self interest,corporate greed and bad politics are the triggers to so much suffering.Nicholls poignantly makes us see that meaningful communication between humanity is exemplified through touch and eyes. As we touch people,we become vulnerable and in this moment forgiveness has a chance. Thanks for telling your personal story. Thanks for taking me on your journey
