My sister came across this books many years ago when our children were little. It was a life saver as it was really hard to keep up with everything with toddlers around. So many times you think of I only have about 15 minutes until I have to leave, start dinner, or what ever it might be and nothing gets done. In the book you have chores to be done daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly and each one is timed as you do it the first time. Then you know exactly how long it takes to do a chore and which one you can quickly do in that 15 minutes. The house pretty much always stays clean when you follow your daily routine because instead of letting everything go until your one big cleaning day you are doing small easily done cleaning daily. Your children can also be taught to do chores that are age appropriate. One rule I had was that they get out one toy to play with and then put it away before getting out another which made a huge difference in how my house looked. It also ingrained in them at an early age to put things away when they were done with them so they could find them when they wanted them. Rather than index cards I made a little chore chart for them. So, when I was dusting the furniture in the room their job would be to dust the baseboards. With having a system you can have a clean house and still be able to spontaneously do other things like lunch with a friend.
