This record is fantastic. But I think to really appreciate how good Russell Scott and the Red Hots are, you need to see them live. They used to play every night of the week in SoCal, but now its once or twice weekly in LA and at the Doll Hut in Anaheim and annually at the Hootenanny. Gene Jaramillo is on guitar on most tracks of this album. Gene provides harmonies to many of the tracks that add to the brilliance of their arrangement. The first track is written (or co-written) with Eddie Nichols, the lead singer of Royal Crown Revue and friend of Russell. It is sort of a cross between rockabilly, R&B and doo-wop, a fast track with lots of energy.Next in Line is one of my favorites. Of all the tracks, I would say that Rock you through the Roof and Tie Stands Still are classic rockabilly sounding, while the others range from rhythm and blues, jump, and even reggae-sounding. This is one of my favorite bands: I've seen them live millions of time, and they are absolute sweethearts!
