I tested water from a faucet known to have high levels of lead, but no trace of lead showed up on the test. Maybe the amount of lead has to be higher before the test shows it. Or the test is not accurate.Quick, easy and helpfulFor only a one shot done test, I don’t think it should cost what you are getting. I mean if you follow instructions, then your okay.Easy to use. Instructions were clearly stated. Test results were fast and easy to read.I live in a 116 year old home. Although there have been many updates I needed to know if the waterline coming into my home was carrying lead contaminants. This test was recommended in Good Housekeeping so I decided to give it a try. Based on this test, my waterline is lead-free. However, I almost blew the test because I was confused about how much water to add to the vial. ALL of the photographs show the vial filled with water but the instructions say to use only one pipette full of water. I was confused. I logged into Amazon and checked the reviews. Thanks to others who pointed out the conflicting instructions, I performed the test correctly. Safe Home should immediately add a sticker on the packaging to tell users to follow the printed instructions and not the visuals. In all fairness, Safe Home should send replacement kits to those who requests them due to the poor instructions. It would be great if they would tell you you cannot see the reagent in the vial. I know there was another issue with the instructions which they later fixed, but come on.I found the test easy to use (always recommend reading the entire instructions once over before starting). I did not have problems with regards to the illustrations that some reviewers had mentioned were confusing, I suspect the manufacturer had updated the instructions to be more clear. Only downside is that it feels kinda expensive for a single test. But then again, < $15 isn't a high price to pay for some peace of mind! The directions are a bit mysterious at first. It's hard to know what they are talking when the text refers to the pictures. I read the directions a couple of time and thought about it until the directions made sense. The test I did indicated the any lead in our water was below the EPA maximums. As for accuracy you have nothing to compare the test to so you don't know any actual lead levels. You have to assume the product works as stated.Based on USA recommended rate and Canadian rates is even lower. No actual rate shown. The reading shows pass or not.
