The PremiseThe second book in the series Lawyers in Love, Gabrielle and Braden have fallen in love and face a bright future together if they can just survive all of the crazy people they encounter, like anonymous napkin droppers, UFO enthusiasts, crooked businessmen, nude drunk drivers, and a woman who tries to break into jail. When the gavel falls will the verdict be happily ever after? The GoodThe romance, which was a little lacking in the first book, is better in this one and I think it’s due to the time invested in getting to know Gabi and Braden and actually feel the connection that was a bit rushed in the first book. The humor is still the strength of the tale, however - the cases are amusing and the escapades Gabi gets herself into are very silly but fun. I enjoyed the secondary characters and I’m actually looking forward to the next couple to get their own book - though I’m surprised at which couple Ms. Silber has chosen. The BadI should have added this to my review of the first book, but I was mildly irked that the main mystery, who wrote the threatening notes, wasn’t answered in the first book. Had I waited to read this book, it probably would have irked me more, but since I was able to read these books back to back, it didn’t annoy me as much. Even with the improvement in the romance, I still felt those awkward moments when reading the sex scenes. Considering I am no prude and have read many a book that includes erotic content, in my opinion, the sex seemed to hit false notes in relation to the rest of the story. I would have preferred more development in the emotional department (with less use of exclamation points) instead. The Bottom LineI think, overall, that these first two books would have been better served to be edited into one solid book. That said, I would still check out the next tale in this series, because I think there is potential with this author.
