My brother served in the Vietnam war. I recall his return home with duffle bag in tow, bearing doll-gifts for me. While this figure commemorates the war that resulted from the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, war is war.In times of war, historically young men have either been drafted to serve or volunteer to do so. During drafts, young men are chosen because they all believe they are coming home and we can only hope and pray that their beliefs come true. Sadly many do not.Drafted, my brother's return home was not at Christmas time. After serving his tour, he did make it back to the "world" (as they called it during the 1970s), alive and well. This figure will serve as a reminder of the time two of my brothers simultaneously served this country and returned home bearing gifts and advice for me. It has been added to my collection of other dolls and action figures.
