"Invite Me In" by Emma CurtisThis is a brilliant, utterly unputdownable, twisty, and captivating domestic psychological thriller. If you love this genre, I highly recommend spending cozy autumnal evenings immersed in it.The Plot: We follow Eliza Curran, a woman in her mid-thirties. At first glance, it may seem she has everything – two beautiful kids, a loving husband, a few faithful friends, and a wealthy life that she lives to the fullest. However, one day, a new tenant unravels Eliza's supposedly perfect life. Step by step, it becomes apparent that Eliza is far from leading an ideal life. Moreover, she harbors ghosts of the past that silently lurk in the depths of her soul and her seemingly cozy and secure house. The new tenant awakens these ghosts, opening a Pandora's box that cannot be easily closed. The Writing Style: I've read all the released books by Emma Curtis, and I can confidently say that with each new book, the plot becomes juicier, more twisted, and increasingly appealing. The book is cleverly written – this is evident in the most minor details of an exceptionally well-thought-out story. I savored the book from cover to cover. I fidgeted on the sofa, worrying about the main character as if I were there with the charming Eliza. I also appreciated the frequent use of French words in the novel. As a French speaker, these words seem to add a unique charm to the book. As usual, this author's writing style feels perfect for me – well-paced, dynamic, twisty, intense, and breathtaking. The Characters: I like how the author delicately and carefully introduces her characters to readers, maintaining a constant sense of intrigue. I also like how the author portrays the characters' appearances with beauty while simultaneously revealing the flaws within their souls. There is an average number of characters, each fortunate to receive a brilliant description in all aspects, evoking a wide range of feelings and emotions in the reader. Personally, I experienced a whirlpool of emotions from the first pages.Fave quote: "Life is a series of bargains. Battles you win, losses you accept."Would I read other books by this author: I'm already opening it!My humble rating is: 5/5P.S. Emma Curtis is an exceptional author for me. A couple of years ago, during one of my family trips, we waited for the flight at the Albanian airport. As a passionate book lover, I visited one of the small bookstands there. "One Little Mistake" by Emma Curtis caught my eye at once. I knew nothing about the author then, but loved the cover and synopsis. Moreover, I enjoy discovering new authors. I had a gut feeling that Emma Curtis would be such an author. My intuition didn't fail me – Emma Curtis has been one of my auto-buy and favorite writers since then.I happily pre-ordered "The Babysitter," and the copy arrived directly after reading "Invite Me In." I mean, literally, as soon as I closed the book, the doorbell rang, and the courier brought me a copy of "The Baby Sitter." I don't believe in coincidence, but I do believe in bookish magic. With this fairy-like feeling, I'm opening the new release by the adorable Emma Curtis.
