People's likes and dislikes in popular music... does anything get any more subjective?Many times, it's a matter of association: where were you (literally or figuratively) when a certain record or album was released? How did it affect you then? Does listening to it now still evoke feelings and memories from that time in your life? Or does it simply have a good beat that you can dance to... would you give it a high rating today?I liked Loggins and Messina, but tended to enjoy their "deep album cuts" even more than their "hits"; the extended album version of "Angry Eyes" is still one of my favorites. The mix of pop, lite rock and even some jazz that threads through this Loggins solo release will not be to many listeners' tastes in this modern age of samples and loops. But, for its time, it was a strong mix of songs and very well-produced.Personal favorites include the title track and a lovely piece called "Set it Free". But the album is filled with gems, IF you like the genre. I gave it 5 stars because 4 didn't seem enough, and I couldn't choose to give it 4 1/2.
