In the summer of 2012, Allison Shapira left a great job at Harvard University, moved out of her apartment in Harvard Square, and went to Europe with a small suitcase and a travel guitar. She had been playing the guitar for a little over a year. Walking into a bar in Vienna, Austria one night, she asked the owner if she could play. That Saturday night, she was one of the bar's featured performers. She performed in France, Italy, and Croatia, earning fans from around the world who knew her as 'Allison from Boston.' She returned to the Boston area to work on her first original album, Coming Home. Allison's full, lyrical voice has often been compared to her inspiration, Joan Baez. Her expressive lyrics weave together both real and fictional stories (you'll have to guess which is which), creating characters that resonate with people from around the world.
