There is a special cemetery in mid-Missouri called Soldiers Home. It is on hill overlooking the Osage River. Soldiers from the Civil War to present are buried in this cemetery. The community, the church and their families take care of Soldiers Home, making it a place of peace, beauty, and comfort. Soldiers who didn't make it home from the wars they fought in are buried there. Soldiers who did make it home, and despite the horrors they witnessed, worked to make their communities better are also buried there. There is a rumor the shadows of those soldiers have chosen to stay and guard their families and home until they are called to their final rest. If there are ghosts standing at attention in the moonlight. They are friendly ghosts and echoes of men and women who deserve to be remembered. Meet the soldiers and families of Soldiers Home. If such a place doesn't exist, it should.
