One of the best mystery/suspense books I have read lately. I am a big fan of Dee Henderson, Terri Blackstock, etc. and also enjoy TV police dramas. This story has it all - FBI, kidnapping, murder, as well as personal struggles. The main character is dealing with his own grief, after losing his wife to car accident after they had argued. His teenage daughter is also having a hard time coping, and feels ignored by her hardworking Dad. A second main character has her own reasons for wanting to find the guilty party and put him behind bars. Her sister is still learning how to go on with her life after being a victim several years earlier. Not a light read, but the author sticks to relevant details, and doesn't sensationalize the negative. No coarse language, sex, or extreme violence. A wonderful example of Christians who have their own issues, but rely on Him to get them through. Those who have not turned their lives over to the Lord see examples of how Christians have questions and problems too, but do their best and have faith that He will prevail even in the worst circumstances. Not every character has a happy ending in this one, just as in real life. A very satisfying read, with an epilogue lead-in to book 2. Can't wait to read it!
