I love this CD set! Eric Bogle is not just singing; he is singing to the mind, the heart, the soul, and the spirit of each and every one of his listeners. The man is a genius, and this collection proves it.While there are 5 CDs (60 songs) in all, even if you never get past the first disc, your life will be enriched. The classic "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda," the beautiful and heartbreaking "Leaving Nancy," and "No Man's Land," the tribute to WW I soldier William McBride, are all small moments transformed into works of art. I literally cannot count how many times I have listened to these gems over the years...and discovered deeper layers of meaning and emotion each and every time.Perhaps lesser-known (but equally worthwhile)selections include "Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo," and "Standing in the Light." There are no words to describe "One Small Star"...you simply must experience it for yourself.The linear notes are very detailed, with information about when, where, why, and for whom each song was written.I began listening to Mr. Bogle years ago when a friend did me the favor of sharing one of his earlier CDs. (Thank you!) If you are as yet unfamiliar with him, please do yourself a favor and try Singing the Spirit Home. You will cry, you will laugh, and you will never listen to music in the same way again.
