I'll Be Home for Christmas (Roone) - Heartwarming Holiday Song for Christmas Gatherings & Family Celebrations

Roisin Meaney is one of the few authors on my "automatic buy" list. When I discovered this latest novel was coming out, I immediately pre-ordered it. The fact it is set at Christmas time was just an added bonus.I want to be very respectful of future readers by not giving too much away and spoiling it for everyone. The product description is fairly brief and vague which good as the relationship between the two main characters, as well as their backstories, are revealed slowly and with great care. While the description might leave some potential readers with the impression this is traditional "chick lit" or light, fluffy reading with rainbows and unicorns abounding, that isn't the case at all. The book isn't a heavy, depressing read by any means but some things you will see coming and others will catch you totally off guard. One of the nicest things about this novel (and others by Ms. Meaney) is that she doesn't insult the reader. This was largely a comfort read for me at Christmas time but all the markings of a wonderful read are here. Great, well developed characters; interesting location/setting; a plot line that doesn't telegraph the ending from page one.Another excellent read by a pretty fabulous author.(I still think my favorite book of hers is Something in Common which I can't recommend highly enough.)
