Hear The Light was the first release from Barnabas, who would later morph into a highly creative and very heavy metal band. On their first release however, they are not playing what could be called metal. There's some nice stuff here, good guitar work but the songs are fairly simple, nothing like the complex songwriting they would later produce.On Find Your Heart A Home, they begin to flex their songwriting muscles, and there are some very nice songs here. However, this particular release is somewhat marred by production and the lack of a talented guitarist. This is one of those cds that I would have loved to hear re-recorded by the band at a later point, because there are some really good songs here, but they don't get the treatment they deserve.For Barnabas in their prime I suggest picking up Approaching Light Speed and Feel The Fire. This two-cd release is really for fans of the band, who remember when these two releases represented one of the few hard rock acts in Christian music.
