The Cowards Stayed Home by Randall Sorbel had me engaged from beginning to end. In just two sittings on one Saturday night I devoured this enthralling book of Randall Sorbel’s life story. The Cowards Stayed Home beautifully delivered an uplifting and inspirational message that life is entirely what you make of it. Some of the core tenets include the importance of vision, perseverance, courage and self-reliance. This message of self-reliance and the earned life was particularly key. As Mr. Sorbel put it, “I was not a helpless victim. In fact, this mentality made life less stressful because it was I who would determine how far I could go on my journey.”My favorite quote comes in Chapter 4 when Mr. Sorbel recounts , “In retrospect, a sense of invincibility was our constant companion, as bullets simply didn’t carry our names as targets.
