I “met” Janet Mancini through an unrelated Facebook page and heard of her book through a link she sent. I was immediately fascinated by her story. As far as I know, I have never known orphans who lived in a children’s home setting and then were adopted. This informative and inspirational book is the story of one woman’s journey to find her birth parents and the answers she needed. She includes pictures of the Children’s Home, conversations with women who cared for her and her brother while they were residents, newspaper clippings and many pictures. This book is a first-hand look at the odyssey of two young children seemingly alone in the world and a testament to the organization that kept them safe, the birth mother who wisely sent them there before she died, and the adoptive parents who took them to their forever home. I recommend the book highly.
