I got the chance to see and hear Rhiannon live many years ago; I'd never heard of her. She is an improvisational singer who pulls out all the stops and just has fun and plays with it. I would call her a jazz singer, although her material is richly varied. She also writes many of her own songs. This particular CD seems to have a theme - she revisits her prairie home after many years of being away, and many of the songs speak to this.I bought this in cassette form, and always wanted to have it in CD form. I don't like every single song, but the bulk of them I do like a lot. She has impeccable taste in picking others' material. I love how she puts expression and emotion into her singing, and also just has so much fun with it. Her voice is amazing. I also have a live CD of her and it seems she only gets better with the years.
